DONALD PERFORMING ARTS GROUP President: Anne Walsh (5498 5224) Secretary: Mary Herben (5497 1727) Treasurer: Bruce Dunn (5497 2155) A brief history The Donald Performing Arts Group starting in about 1989 with a short melodrama under the direction of Brian McDowell. Although it was a modest production, it showcased enough talent for the next year's director, Barry Dryden, with assistance from president Jan Corrie to try for a bigger production. "Aladdin" was a fantastic success, with a large group of talented singers and performers from Donald and St. Arnaud. So began seventeen years of annual productions, with many different performers and directors. All of the plays have been of high quality, but the outstanding production was "The Mikado" which showed the group at its most professional musically, and many outstanding comedies have been performed. Since then, some stalwart performers have left Donald, and the big musicals have become a thing of the past. The Performing Arts Group hopes to have a new production in the near future!
